Davido Drops Hypnotic Video For Impressive New Single, 'Like Dat'

Just two weeks after blowing us all away with his fourth and arguably his best single of 2017, "Fia", Davido proves he is truly the Nigerian artiste of the year by coming through with another impressive single and music video, "Like Dat".

Produced by Shizzi and written by the talented Teni ("Fargin"), "Like Dat" isn't the typical love song Davido's been dropping all year. This one was clearly designed to get people moving, and Davido's energetic delivery over its infectious beat totally gets the job done.

The sci-fi-esque music video, which was directed by Daps, feels like a cross between Blade Runner 2049 and the original video for Wizkid's "Come Closer"

 — which makes sense because Daps also directed that one. This video primarily features vibrant colours, stunning women and crisp effects.

With how impressive all his singles have been this year, Davido's sophomore album really couldn't come soon enough. So, while we are not sure if "Like Dat" is the last Davido song we'll get before 2017 runs out, if it turns out to be, then it's a truly triumphant way to end his solid year.

Asa speaks On Collaborating With Wizkid

Shortly after the release of Asa‘s Bed of Stone album in 2015, Wizkid announced his desire to collaborate with Asa. A section of music fans laughed it off because according to them, ‘Wizkid and Asa could not match because of the obvious difference in their sounds.’ Others bluntly insisted that Wizkid is not on Asa’s level adding that the Star Boy would ruin her soulful sound.

Two years later, a never before seen interview of Asa with Funmi Iyanda has surfaced and opposed to popular opinion, Asa is interested in working with the Star boy.

‘He’s a sweet guy and it was sweet of him to say that. I felt bad, I felt ‘oh my God’ I hope he doesn’t feel bad’, I hope he doesn’t think I incited it or I wouldn’t want to work with him, I’ll really like to work with him. I think he’s interesting, I think it’ll be a nice collaboration if we do it. I’ll love to see Wizkid in another context but being himself, we’ll make something really nice!’ – She disclosed

Asa is Nigerians biggest Afro-soul singer and in over a decade of her reign, she has worked with a handful of Nigerian artistes.

Wizkid has in the past two years risen to global acclaim and it would be such a delight to see Nigeria’s biggest pop artiste

 – Wizkid and Nigeria’s biggest Soul singer

Wizkid Breaks Another World Record Alongside Jay Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar

Star boy has done it again! Proving to the world that his rival does not exist in Africa, Wizkid has been nominated for “Best African Act” at the 2017 MOBO Awards

He has already won this category twice: 2011 and 2016

Now that’s not even the brain buster, the extremely good news is that Wizkid has been nominated for “Best International Act” as well at the 2017 MOBO Awards.

His first time as a nominee in this category!

Thats a record breaking nomination there, Wizkid will battle for the title Alongside Jay Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar

It sure must feel pretty darn good to be Wizkid right now.

This international accomplishment comes in three-fold:

Wizkid is the only African featured on this year’s Best International Act category nomination alongside global music heavyweights like Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and more others.

This is Wizkid’s first nomination on the category for Best International Act, and we’re not talking about Africa, like is usually the case for award platforms like MTV and BET.

Wizkid is the first Nigerian mainstream artiste to be featured on the nominees list for this highly coveted category award.

Long Live Baba Nla!!

Police quiz Davido over friend’s death as CCTV footages emerge.

Image result for davido

The police in Lagos State have said that Tagbo Umeike, the late friend of music artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, died from suffocation.
The Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, stated this yesterday at a briefing in Lagos, where he announced that Davido has been re-invited for questioning.
According to Edgal, the autopsy report revealed that Tagbo died from suffocation, adding that Davido’s driver and two of his friends abandoned him in his car at the hospital. “He has been re-invited for questioning because he lied that he only knew of Tagbo’s demise while he was at DNA nightclub, in Victoria Island, a claim that has been found to be untrue,” he said.
Tagbo reportedly died on the eve of his birthday last week Tuesday at a bar in the Lekki area of the state. Two other associates of the singer, DJ Olu, 25, and Chime Amaechi, were found lifeless in the former’s BMW car parked in the underground garage of Block B, Banana Island, Lagos on Saturday, three days after Tagbo’s death.
A Nigerian actress, Caroline Danjuma, had, through a post on Instagram, accused Davido of dumping Tagbo’s corpse at the General Hospital, Lagos, after he allegedly died in his (Davido’s) car.
The actress alleged in the post, which she later deleted, that Davido and his crew fled after depositing the body.
The police boss said Davido was re-invited for questioning because he lied that he only knew of the Tagbo’s demise while he was at a nightclub, DNA in Victoria Island, a claim that has been found to be untrue.
According to him, Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footages obtained from the General Hospital, Lagos, revealed that Davido’s escort Hilux vehicle driver and two of his (Davido’s) friends took the deceased to the hospital and abandoned him there.
He said: “On October 3, around 9:20a.m. the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of General Hospital Lagos, Oparanti Moshood alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Lion Building that an unidentified male was brought in dead in an Ash Toyota Camry Saloon car marked LSD378EL by two unidentified males.
“From the international passport found in the deceased’s car, the DPO gave his identity as Tagbo Umeike. Immediately after, one Caroline Danjuma, an actress and the victim’s fiancee, published on her Instagram page that her boyfriend died in the company of one David Adeleke alias Davido and friends.
“To be objective and verify facts, I called for a pre-investigation meeting in my conference room. In attendance were all parties including family, friends of the deceased, those of Davido, Caroline Danjuma, the DPO and investigating officers.
“The meeting confirmed that the deceased Tagbo Umeike on that day, met and had drinks with friends at Shisha Bar amongst whom was Davido. The bar tender confirmed the deceased had as much as 40 stots of Tequila and exhibited signs of drunkenness. The CCTV footage also confirmed this.
“Davido had told the police he had left Shisha Bar for DNA Nugjt Club in Victoria Island without the deceased and was only informed by mutual friends of his death while he was at DNA. However, investigation revealed that Davido’s white Toyota Hilux escort driver, Tunde Usutu, accompanied by Agbeje Olaoye and Idris Busari, both Davido’s friends, took the deceased to the General Hospital Lagos and abandoned him in his vehicle on the instruction of Davido.
“The CCTV footage at the hospital picked the escort vehicle abs the entire activity. The vehicle was recovered from Davido’s residence at 7, Awoshika Street, Lekki Phase 1.
“This completely debunks Davido’s claim that he did not know how the deceased got to the General Hospital. The interim autopsy report stated that the victim died of Asphyxia.”
On the cause of death of two other Davido’s friends who were found dead inside a BMW car marked KJA631AY on October 7 at Banana Island, Edgal said the autopsy had not been concluded.

From Ojuelegba to the World! Wizkid Sold out the Royal Albert Hall in London & it was a Night to Remember.

It’s the Wizkid takeover as the international superstar made history last night when he sold out the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London and he is the first Nigerian artist to do so, might we add!
Wizkid shut it down through his one-hour set, starting the night with songs from when he was with EME to his rise as Africa’s number one artist.
He also brought out Wande Coal to share the moment with him.
The show was broadcast live on his official Facebook page and when he performed Ojuelegba, the hall went wild and as expected, there was no way he was going to leave without giving an encore.
What’s inspiring is that the hall was filled with over 5000 guests featuring an array of different races, which shows that the power of music transcends race and culture!
As he closed, he told the audience that his next move is to sell out the O2 Arena next year and after him making history yesterday, selling out the O2 arena is a possibility.

Wizkid Becomes First African To Sell Out At Royal Albert Hall London

Nigerian born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has made history by being the first African artiste to sell out the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The concert which held last night 29th September was said to have been sold out two days before the actual concert.
Wizkid’s collaborative track with Drake ‘One Dance’, up until 22 September was the most streamed song on Spotify, a feat that earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The globally adored Nigerian artiste became the first African artiste to headline a show and sell out his tickets.
The show which was broadcast live on Wizkid’s Facebook page featured British act Yxng Bane and Wande Coal, his one-hour stand-alone performance highlighted hit tracks from his early days in the industry to his recent days as Africa’s biggest artiste.
Starboy joins a list of international superstars who have headlined at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate the star and a number of them have begun to make comparisons to Wiz’s fellow hitmaker, Davido who just completed his 30 billion World Tour which was a success in its own rights.

Nigeria @57- 5 Nollywood movies that celebrate our country

In the spirit of the Independence celebration, see 5 Nollywod movies that capture the Nigerian culture, spirit and unsung heroes.

57 years ago today, Nigeria got her independence from the British.

What could be more satisfying than to lie in relaxation and watch a movie that celebrates Nigeria and the spirit of her citizens - ranging from biographical dramas to entertaining box-office blockbusters?
These movies below capture the Nigerian culture, journey of unsung heroes and the tenaciousness of Nigerians as a people.

1. "The Wedding Party"

The Wedding Party

The highest grossing Nigerian film, Kemi Adetiba's "The Wedding Party" is emblematic of the Nigerian wedding culture. Except for the absence of the fundamental Nigerian Jollof rice - I mean, who holds a Nigerian wedding without Jollof rice? - the movie does its best to capture a typical Nigerian wedding, high-priced or inexpensive.
It is a representation of all the drama that could occur pre and post a wedding party. A typical Nigerian wedding party is fun, dramatic, tedious, but definitely entertaining.
A typical Nigerian wedding has that relative who turns up for the food or souvenirs, friends who turn up for the 'gram' and even an envious ex who is just there to witness and gloat over the inadequacies of the ceremony.
"The Wedding Party" captures the energy, music, colourfulness, culture and fashion that makes a wedding party fun to attend.

2. "A Soldier's Story"

It’s impossible to talk about Nigeria without talking about war at some point. We have had wars and rumours of wars. And in most recent times, our country has to a large extent, been ravaged by the Boko Haram group, and on various occasions, we have had to mourn brave soldiers who sacrificed the warmth of family to be at the battlefronts and eventually paying the ultimate price of service, with their lives.
If there's any film that attempts to celebrate and encourage heroic soldiers and their contributions to the country, it is "A Soldier's Story."
The movie follows a soldier on a peacekeeping mission, who is left for dead by some rebel soldiers. The movie depicts various emotions such as the heartbreak and anguish that accompanies the news of the demise of a loved one in battle.
This story is such that ensures we remember the labours of these heroes past; heroes such as the Lt. Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali and other gallant officers who died in service during the war against Boko Haram.

3. "A Place in the Stars"

Inspired by the tenure of the late Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Dora Akunyili, the 2014 Steve Gukas film tells the story of Dakim, a young lawyer who is in possession of vital information about the trafficking of counterfeit drugs that can save many lives if he passes it on, but make millions of dollars if he doesn’t.
Late Professor Dora Akunyili, during her tenure as the Head of NAFDAC, tirelessly fought to halt the sale and use of fake drugs, even at the expense of her safety. She would go on to become the Federal Minister of Information & Communication in 2008, and spear-headed a rebranding campaign for Nigeria with the slogan: “Good People, Great Nation”.
The film acknowledges the dogged and honest spirit of several Nigerians out there who have been consistent in being good and portraying Nigeria as a great nation.

4. "Saworide"

Nigeria is a country with several cultural practices that define us. We have the Sharo ceremony in Fulani Land; traditional baby naming ceremony in Yorubaland; the fattening room in Efik land; and Omugwo in Igbo land.
But if we are talking about one of the films that encapsulates an interesting culture of a tribe in Nigeria, it's "Saworide," which means talking drum or brass bell in English Language.
The Tunde Kelani film follows the setting of an old Yoruba norm in the town of Jogbo, where a person can not be crowned king without the saworoide being played by the right person.
Drumming is a key part of the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people. They are several drums such as Gangan (Talking Drum), Bata, Saworide, Omela Ako; all used for different occasions.
The film celebrates the charm of African art, and the beauty of tradition and folklore.

5. "93 Days"

Bimbo Akintola is Stella Adadevoh in "93 Days"

"93 Days" celebrates the sacrifices of the late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh and all who risked their lives to make sure the Ebola virus was contained in Nigeria.
On July 20, 2014, Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, arrived Lagos. He became severely ill upon arrival and died five days later of the Ebola disease. Almost 93 days later, on 20 October 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared Nigeria to be Ebola free.
The method used to contain the virus brought positive recognition from around the world for the country. In WHO’s Ebola Situation Assessment report, it was commended with lessons for countries such as the United States. Nigeria had become that exemplary kid in class for a good behavior.
Ebola was controlled as a result of the quick thinking, resilience and selflessness of the late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh and other medical personnel. Ameyo is credited for curbing a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing Patrick Sawyer in quarantine despite pressures from some quarters to have him released.
Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh died on 19 August 2014, few weeks after testing positive for the Ebola virus disease.
Apart from recording a significant period in Nigeria, the movie "93 Days" depicts the strength, selflessness and sacrificial nature of Nigerians.

An open letter to the legendary pop group

It is time for Psquare to start acting like grown men and not kids.
PSquare in 2005.

Dear Peter and Paul,

I know you guys are busy with all that is going on but this won't take long.
You must know why I am writing. You guys are all over the news. Your names keep popping up on several headlines. It wouldn't be a cause for concern if the buzz around you was music related.
It's sort of sad to see you guys trending because of sibling rivalry and not because of music. Since 2014 we have watched you guys become gossip material. Your fans are sad to see this happening. Even the critics can't explain how a legendary group is unfolding so badly.
At the height of your fame and success, the P in Psquare could have also meant professionalism. Peter and Paul, you showed what it meant to be a recording artist. You guys took no prisoners.
You dropped the hits and Jude Okoye ran the ship. This was how you became music stars in the real sense of the word. You brought excitement to millions of Nigerians.
If those around you won't tell you, I will. The Psquare brand hasn't been the same since all the drama started a couple of years ago. Your last album 'Double Trouble' was solid no doubt, but it didn't affect popular culture like your previous efforts. The sibling rivalry has robbed the group of a bit of its shine.
While you are squabbling, the Psquare brand is losing its appeal very fast. After years of hard work, sacrifice and dedication, this is not the way to go out. You guys have earned the right to go out on your terms but it surely shouldn't be this way. Psquare should go out with a bang.
Siblings will always fight especially twins. It is not unusual that the two of you are disagreeing. The best of brothers trade punches once in a while. The manner in which you two are fighting leaves room for concern.
Your squabbles shouldn't be seen all over social media. You guys are acting like D-list celebrities. Peter and Paul, you are better than that. Has it come to this? You have lost respect for each other and are ready to drag each other through the mud. Legends shouldn't behave like this. It is disappointing.
No matter what is going on do not lose the fact that you are brothers. You grew together, cried together, starved together and hustled together. No one knows you guys better than yourselves.
Now, there have been rumours about why you are fighting. I wouldn't dwell on these too much because they are just speculations.
The same respect you give a man is the same you should give his wife. A man has a right to choose who his wife is. You might disagree with his choice but at least be respectful. Show respect. If you are disrespectful to a man's wife, you are disrespectful to him also.
And on the business side of things, surely three grown men can come together and talk without trading blows. Psquare hasn't done badly in terms of money over the years. Whatever business model they have been using can be improved upon. Progress is not bad. Everyone should be open to progress.
Hopefully, sense will prevail and you guys will stop the public mudslinging. Remember, the Internet never forgets. Your kids are watching their uncles behave childishly. What legacy do you want to leave for them?
Yours sincerely,
An admirer.

It’s tough for young artistes in Nigeria –Zimo Beat

One of the popular up and coming musicians in Ibadan, Timothy Ekele, aka Zimo Beat, is fast becoming a household name among the local folks. To him, hitting the limelight like his hero, Tu Face, is just a matter of time and focus.
Our correspondent caught up with him at a concert where he featured as a supporting artiste in Ibadan lately. According to the music graduate from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, although Nigeria is blessed with talented young artistes, reaching the top is a major challenge.
“Music has always been what I wanted to do. In Nigeria, I listen to Tu Face’ songs and I am always impressed with the amount of energy and passion  he puts into his production. His composition and delivery are sources of inspiration to young artistes.
“Nigeria is blessed with many talented musicians but in the past, the up and coming ones seemed not to be getting the chance to reach the top. Things are a little different now because many young artistes now have the opportunity to work with the established ones and learn from them. We have many young artistes who co-produce hit songs with established musicians and from there, they become household names in the industry,” said Zimo Beat.
His latest music, ‘Na your Grace,’ which was recently released, was recorded and produced by the young artiste, who said he was already working on his next song.
He said, “I produce and record my song to reduce financial  implication and to get what I want. Whatever I make from concert, I put it back into my music. I have written more than 50 songs that are yet to be fine-tuned into complete work. Right now, I am working on another song already.
“A few months ago, I released a track titled, ‘Na your Grace’ and I am thrilled with the reception it enjoyed. I did the recording and production by myself. It’s tough for young artistes especially when you don’t have sponsor but it is important to remain focussed. My mandate as a musician is to reach a wide audience that cuts across mankind.”

Unlike before, Teebillz promotes her songs on his Page, He turned the better boy for her, And considering the fact that they made it open when they got back together after their disastrous social media fight last year..
She even hinted and confirmed when she added his last name to hers at her BFF Freda Francis Baby Shower.. There after the couple attends events together, shares loved up photos together on their Pages, Both the ones they enjoyed at Swimming pool with Jamil. You Know?
And Just when we thought everything is fine and Good, Looks like the Fire on the Mountain is still on, Let me be the first to tell you that Tiwa Mama failed to celebrate Teebilz on any of her social media pages, Not even a post or photo, Nothing at all, She kept mute, and rather shared videos of her music....
