From Ojuelegba to the World! Wizkid Sold out the Royal Albert Hall in London & it was a Night to Remember.

It’s the Wizkid takeover as the international superstar made history last night when he sold out the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London and he is the first Nigerian artist to do so, might we add!
Wizkid shut it down through his one-hour set, starting the night with songs from when he was with EME to his rise as Africa’s number one artist.
He also brought out Wande Coal to share the moment with him.
The show was broadcast live on his official Facebook page and when he performed Ojuelegba, the hall went wild and as expected, there was no way he was going to leave without giving an encore.
What’s inspiring is that the hall was filled with over 5000 guests featuring an array of different races, which shows that the power of music transcends race and culture!
As he closed, he told the audience that his next move is to sell out the O2 Arena next year and after him making history yesterday, selling out the O2 arena is a possibility.

Wizkid Becomes First African To Sell Out At Royal Albert Hall London

Nigerian born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has made history by being the first African artiste to sell out the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The concert which held last night 29th September was said to have been sold out two days before the actual concert.
Wizkid’s collaborative track with Drake ‘One Dance’, up until 22 September was the most streamed song on Spotify, a feat that earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The globally adored Nigerian artiste became the first African artiste to headline a show and sell out his tickets.
The show which was broadcast live on Wizkid’s Facebook page featured British act Yxng Bane and Wande Coal, his one-hour stand-alone performance highlighted hit tracks from his early days in the industry to his recent days as Africa’s biggest artiste.
Starboy joins a list of international superstars who have headlined at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate the star and a number of them have begun to make comparisons to Wiz’s fellow hitmaker, Davido who just completed his 30 billion World Tour which was a success in its own rights.

Chelsea vs Manchester City: Conte blasts Mourinho for selling De Bruyne

Image result for de bruyne
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has taken a swipe at Jose Mourinho, for selling Kevin De Bruyne when he was in charge of the Premier League champions.

Kevin De Bruyne left Stamford Bridge for £18million in 2014 for Wolfsburg and now plays for Manchester City.
The Belgium forward scored the winning goal, as  City defeated Conte’s men 1-0 on Saturday.
Speaking about De Bruyne after the game, Conte said: “I don’t know what happened in the past but we are talking about a top player, a complete player. Technical, fast.”
On why they lost the game, the Italian added: “There is disappointment for the result but I think at the same time, I am pleased. I am pleased for the commitment
“We gave everything, you can win and we can lose but my players gave everything.
“City took their chance to score, in this type of game it is very important to score first. A great compliment to Manchester City
“I think to repeat is not good because you can take it as an excuse… but you must consider the legs of your players”

Former Chelsea player, De Bruyne gave Man City victory

Image result for de bruyne
Match-winner Kevin De Bruyne came back to haunt former club Chelsea as Manchester City defeated the Premier League champions 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to reclaim top spot.
De Bruyne, who left Chelsea for Wolfsburg in January 2014, struck from outside the box midway through the second half, securing a victory that cemented City’s status as the early title favourites.
City recovered first place from Manchester United on goal difference and move six points clear of Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, who were beaten at home for a second time after their shock opening-weekend loss to Burnley.
It represented a forceful return to earth for Chelsea after their excellent Champions League win at Atletico Madrid and their disappointment was compounded by an injury to prolific new striker Alvaro Morata.
Following Chelsea’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal in their previous home game, this was the first time Conte had seen one of his teams fail to score in successive games on home turf in his managerial career.
While the former Juventus boss was left to lick his wounds, opposite number Pep Guardiola could revel in a first victory over Chelsea inside 90 minutes in eight games as a manager.
City had scored 16 goals in their three previous league matches, but in successfully overwhelming the defending champions on their own patch, this was arguably their most impressive performance of the campaign to date.
The result also served to equal the club record of five consecutive top-flight away wins, matching sequences established between April and September 1912 and May to September 2015.
Following his star turn in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Atletico, Eden Hazard took his place in the Chelsea starting XI for the first time in a league fixture this season.
Conte retained the same 3-5-1-1 system he had used against Atletico and his men threatened to pick up where they had left off in the Spanish capital, Morata glancing a header wide from N’Golo Kante’s cross.
But it was to prove a false dawn as City’s aggressive pressing and probing possession play kept the champions on the back foot throughout the first half.
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois almost embarrassed himself in the 12th minute when, after playing a one-two with Antonio Rudiger at a goal-kick, he allowed Gabriel Jesus to close him down as he assessed his passing options.
Fortunately for the Belgian, after striking the advancing Jesus, the ball bounded over the crossbar for a goal-kick.
Raheem Sterling wasted a great opportunity for City when he overhit a cross with Jesus and David Silva racing into the box.
Courtois was twice called into direct action, repelling a fierce strike from Silva and then showing sharp reflexes to turn away Fernandinho’s bullet header from De Bruyne’s corner.
Chelsea were obliged to feed off scraps, particularly after Morata left the fray in the 35th minute, gesturing to his left hamstring, which saw Willian come on to form an unorthodox front two with Hazard.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Hazard worked Ederson either side of half-time, but the City goalkeeper needed only regulation saves on each occasion.
After Marcos Alonso had blocked impressively from Silva, De Bruyne broke through in the 67th minute when he exchanged passes with Jesus before steering a glorious shot inside the right-hand post with his left foot.
With four assists and nine goals, the gifted Belgian midfielder has been involved in 13 goals in his last 13 City appearances.
Jesus went close to extending the visitors’ lead when his side-foot volley was headed off the line by Rudiger.
Chelsea’s charge was late in coming and they came no nearer an equaliser than a header from Andreas Christensen in the last minute that cleared the bar comfortably.

Guardiola hails ‘important’ win as Man City down Chelsea

Pep Guardiola labelled Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea as an “important” moment in the leaders’ bid to dethrone the Premier League champions.
Kevin De Bruyne’s second half thunderbolt gave City a victory that keeps them top of the table, above Manchester United on goal difference, heading into the international break.
After losing twice to Chelsea last season and finishing 15 points behind the Blues, Guardiola believes his side’s well deserved success at Stamford Bridge was a significant statement of intent.
“There are no words to describe what Chelsea are and what they did last season. It is important to win and especially with the way we played,” he said.
“In the first half we didn’t find the right position but in the second we were better. A big congratulations for the victory.
“We had control and in the second half we adjusted our possession and the way we attacked. Chelsea could not play and had to do long balls.”
De Bruyne’s first league goal of the season came against the club that sold him to Wolfsburg in 2014 and Guardiola was delighted to see the 26-year-old seize the spotlight on his return to west London
“Everyone is talking about Kevin de Bruyne. He makes absolutely everything. He is the most humble guy, I am so happy for him because I know how happy he is,” Guardiola said.
Blues boss Antonio Conte claimed Chelsea had paid the price for a busy week that included a Champions League trip to Spain for their midweek win over Atletico Madrid.
“In this type of game you need time to recover. If you are tired it is not simple to go box to box. Today we created chances but we didn’t take them. Manchester City had chances and they took them,” he said.
“It was a tough game but we know very well that City are a big team and it’s very difficult to play this type of game.
“It is logical when you play three games in seven days you risk something.”
Adding to Conte’s frustration was a first half injury to Spain striker Alvaro Morata.
“I hope it is not a serious injury for Morata. It is his hamstring but we don’t know if it is a serious problem,” he said.

Nigeria @57- 5 Nollywood movies that celebrate our country

In the spirit of the Independence celebration, see 5 Nollywod movies that capture the Nigerian culture, spirit and unsung heroes.

57 years ago today, Nigeria got her independence from the British.

What could be more satisfying than to lie in relaxation and watch a movie that celebrates Nigeria and the spirit of her citizens - ranging from biographical dramas to entertaining box-office blockbusters?
These movies below capture the Nigerian culture, journey of unsung heroes and the tenaciousness of Nigerians as a people.

1. "The Wedding Party"

The Wedding Party

The highest grossing Nigerian film, Kemi Adetiba's "The Wedding Party" is emblematic of the Nigerian wedding culture. Except for the absence of the fundamental Nigerian Jollof rice - I mean, who holds a Nigerian wedding without Jollof rice? - the movie does its best to capture a typical Nigerian wedding, high-priced or inexpensive.
It is a representation of all the drama that could occur pre and post a wedding party. A typical Nigerian wedding party is fun, dramatic, tedious, but definitely entertaining.
A typical Nigerian wedding has that relative who turns up for the food or souvenirs, friends who turn up for the 'gram' and even an envious ex who is just there to witness and gloat over the inadequacies of the ceremony.
"The Wedding Party" captures the energy, music, colourfulness, culture and fashion that makes a wedding party fun to attend.

2. "A Soldier's Story"

It’s impossible to talk about Nigeria without talking about war at some point. We have had wars and rumours of wars. And in most recent times, our country has to a large extent, been ravaged by the Boko Haram group, and on various occasions, we have had to mourn brave soldiers who sacrificed the warmth of family to be at the battlefronts and eventually paying the ultimate price of service, with their lives.
If there's any film that attempts to celebrate and encourage heroic soldiers and their contributions to the country, it is "A Soldier's Story."
The movie follows a soldier on a peacekeeping mission, who is left for dead by some rebel soldiers. The movie depicts various emotions such as the heartbreak and anguish that accompanies the news of the demise of a loved one in battle.
This story is such that ensures we remember the labours of these heroes past; heroes such as the Lt. Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali and other gallant officers who died in service during the war against Boko Haram.

3. "A Place in the Stars"

Inspired by the tenure of the late Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Dora Akunyili, the 2014 Steve Gukas film tells the story of Dakim, a young lawyer who is in possession of vital information about the trafficking of counterfeit drugs that can save many lives if he passes it on, but make millions of dollars if he doesn’t.
Late Professor Dora Akunyili, during her tenure as the Head of NAFDAC, tirelessly fought to halt the sale and use of fake drugs, even at the expense of her safety. She would go on to become the Federal Minister of Information & Communication in 2008, and spear-headed a rebranding campaign for Nigeria with the slogan: “Good People, Great Nation”.
The film acknowledges the dogged and honest spirit of several Nigerians out there who have been consistent in being good and portraying Nigeria as a great nation.

4. "Saworide"

Nigeria is a country with several cultural practices that define us. We have the Sharo ceremony in Fulani Land; traditional baby naming ceremony in Yorubaland; the fattening room in Efik land; and Omugwo in Igbo land.
But if we are talking about one of the films that encapsulates an interesting culture of a tribe in Nigeria, it's "Saworide," which means talking drum or brass bell in English Language.
The Tunde Kelani film follows the setting of an old Yoruba norm in the town of Jogbo, where a person can not be crowned king without the saworoide being played by the right person.
Drumming is a key part of the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people. They are several drums such as Gangan (Talking Drum), Bata, Saworide, Omela Ako; all used for different occasions.
The film celebrates the charm of African art, and the beauty of tradition and folklore.

5. "93 Days"

Bimbo Akintola is Stella Adadevoh in "93 Days"

"93 Days" celebrates the sacrifices of the late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh and all who risked their lives to make sure the Ebola virus was contained in Nigeria.
On July 20, 2014, Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, arrived Lagos. He became severely ill upon arrival and died five days later of the Ebola disease. Almost 93 days later, on 20 October 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared Nigeria to be Ebola free.
The method used to contain the virus brought positive recognition from around the world for the country. In WHO’s Ebola Situation Assessment report, it was commended with lessons for countries such as the United States. Nigeria had become that exemplary kid in class for a good behavior.
Ebola was controlled as a result of the quick thinking, resilience and selflessness of the late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh and other medical personnel. Ameyo is credited for curbing a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing Patrick Sawyer in quarantine despite pressures from some quarters to have him released.
Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh died on 19 August 2014, few weeks after testing positive for the Ebola virus disease.
Apart from recording a significant period in Nigeria, the movie "93 Days" depicts the strength, selflessness and sacrificial nature of Nigerians.

57th Anniversary: Service Chiefs move to Maiduguri to celebrate with troops

Service-chiefs-Nigeria-military
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin, and the three other Service Chiefs on Saturday, moved to Maiduguri to celebrate the nation’s 57th Independence Anniversary with troops in the frontline.
The other Service Chief are: Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, Chief of Air Force Staff, Sadique Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff, Ebok Ete-Ibas.
Also in Maiduguri with the service chiefs to celebrate the anniversary with the troops is the Director-General, Department of State Service, DSS, Lawal Daura.
John Enenche, the Director Defence Information (DDI) told journalists in Maiduguri that the service chiefs would celebrate with the fighting troops to boost their morale and thank them for their efforts so far.
Mr. Enenche also said the service chiefs would use the opportunity to meet with the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Ibrahim Attahiru.
He added that the service chiefs would use the occasion to review the renewed strategies up in place since July, to flush out remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists.
According to him, the renewed operational tactical strategies adopted by the Army, Air force and Navy have recorded successes.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who was then the Acting President, directed the Service Chiefs to relocate to the North-East.
The directive was after the insurgents ambushed, kidnapped and killed some members of staff of NNPC and University of Maiduguri.
The workers and troops providing protection were on oil exploration mission to Borno North when the incident occurred.
Enenche, however, said that following the successes so far achieved the counter insurgency operations would be further “reinvigorated and reinforced.”
The DDI also attributed the successes so far recorded to “credible information” the military received from the public and urged the people not to relent in giving such information.

Richest football player in the World

The world’s most popular sport, football or soccer, is much more serious than ever. There are more than 3.5 billion football fans worldwide. For many of them, football is not just a game, it is like a religion. Top professional football players are earning more than other pro-athletes.
Here are the top 7 richest football players in the world:

7. Raul

561fe5bb789eb

Raúl is considered one of the most important players in the history of Real Madrid, and regarded as one of the greatest Spanish players of all time.

Net Worth : $95 million

Raul may not suit up for Real Madrid, where he made €7 million a year in salary, but that hasn’t affected his bank account one iota.

Aside from a brief stint with New York Cosmos, Raul makes his mark — and money — off the field, with business ventures such as Scar Sport Europe (invests in renewable energies), Luri (a property company), and Cadmus (an energy company).

6. Kaká

maxresdefault

Kaká or Ricardo Kaká currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Orlando City in Major League Soccer.

Net Worth : $108 million

Kaká is another one of those footballers who gets paid handsomely both on and off the field. Not only has he made plenty of bank playing for clubs like Real Madrid, AC Milan, São Paulo, and Orlando City, but he’s also rolling in endorsement money, courtesy of deals with companies such as Adidas, Pepsi, Samsung, Gillette, and Armani.

5. Wayne Rooney

i-2

Alan Smith rated Wayne Rooney as England’s best-ever strikers.

Net Worth : $112 million

Wayne Rooney plays striker for both the English National Team and Manchester United. He is the wealthiest player in the English Premier League. Known for his strength on the field, Rooney has evolved into more than just a goal scorer.

Wayne Rooney signed a four-year contract extension worth a reported £300,000 a week with Manchester United in 2014.

4. Zlatan Ibrahimović
skysports-zlatan-ibrahimovic-man-united_3893943

Viewed as one of the world’s top strikers, as well as being one of the most temperamental, Ibrahimovic made a name for himself at Inter Milan and won himself numerous personal awards at the San Siro.

Net Worth : $114 Million

The Swedish striker ended his career with Paris Saint-Germain in May as its all-time leading goalscorer. After a season-long negotiation with Nike, he returned under a deal worth a reported $3 million annually through 2019.

While a hefty salary from his club team factors into his net worth, much of Ibrahimović’s money comes from endorsement deals and smart investments. According to Goal.com, he has sponsorship deals with Nivea, Xbox, Volvo, and Dressman; his investments include owning a substantial amount of property. It appears that Ibrahimović is much more than a human highlight reel.

3. Neymar

Neymar da Silva Santos Junior is one of Brazil’s most iconic professional football players, known for his consistency and record goals.

Neymar is the face of Brazilian soccer and one of the main cogs on a talented FC Barcelona team. His skills with the ball and flair for excellence on the pitch make him one of the most popular players in the sport.

His annual salary, which stands at €8.8 million a year, is small potatoes compared to his overwhelming endorsement deals, which include agreements with the likes of Nike, Panasonic, Volkswagen, Red Bull, and many more.

2. Lionel Messi

Messi-vs-real-madrid

Messi’s contract with Barcelona is the biggest in world football, and the Argentine’s extra-curricular revenue is matched only by Cristiano Ronaldo.

skysports-cristiano-ronaldo-champions-league-real-madrid_3944123a
The Portugal captain signed a new a deal with the European champions late last year and boasts a number of sponsorships and business ventures.

It should come as no surprise that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo tops this list. For anyone who follows the sport, Ronaldo is the absolute best of the best.

Ronaldo’s deal with Real Madrid pays him a whopping €18.2 million per year, and that number doesn’t include bonuses. He also crushes it on the endorsement front, has his own clothing line (CR7), and owns a profitable property portfolio. Plus, people seem to find him easy on the eyes, so he’s got that going for him.

October 1 quit notice: Calls for us to return is nothing but mischief - Igbos in northern Nigeria.

- The leadership of the Igbo community in Northern Nigeria has shunned calls urging them to return home

- They described the renewed calls as nothing but mischief

- The Coalition of Northern Youths October 1 quit notice to Igbos living in northern Nigeria has since been withdrawn.

The leadership of the Igbo community in Northern Nigeria has shunned renewed calls urging them to return home ahead of Sunday, October 1, The Nation reports. An association of lawyers in Anambra state, on Thursday, September 28, advised Igbos to vacate the north, whether the threat would be carried out or not.

Reacting to the call, the vice president of Igbo Delegate Assembly in 19 northern states, Chris Nnoli, said the call by the so called lawyers was condemnable.

October 1 quit notice: Calls for us to return is nothing but mischief - Igbos in northern Nigeria

He further described the call as nothing but mischief, while expressing his disappointment and dismay that professionals like lawyers could make such call.

“We are not in support of such call. And if lawyers actually made such call, because I also read the story in a national daily, then it is very unfortunate and we are not going heed it,” he said.

Nnoli, who is also the president-general of Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA) in Kaduna state, added that October 1 remains Nigeria’s national day and they will all celebrate together as Nigerians.

He said no Igbo man living in the north will heed such call because every Nigerian under the constitution of the country has the right to live anywhere they feel like within the country.

This was as Yerima Shettima, one of the leaders of the Coalition of Northern Youths, assured Igbos in the north that no harm will come their way on October 1 or after. Shettima described the lawyers as mischief makers and enemies of Nigeria. His words:

“We are a people of honour and respect. We honour our words. So, the Igbo in the north can go about their normal business and should not listen to mischief makers. “We have sensitised our members to ensure the safety of every Nigerian, especially the Igbo, and we can assure you that nothing will happen to the Igbo by October 1 and even beyond.” Meanwhile, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has condemned plans by the Kaduna state government to arrest leaders of the Arewa youth coalition.

Spokesman of the NEF, Professor Ango Abdullahi, stated that the Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has no moral stand to order for the arrest of the Arewa youths, who he said woke Nigeria from its slumber.

D’banj: Eedris Abdulkareem Insulted Artistes Young Enough To Be His Children

Even as back in the days musician, Eedris Abdulkareem, tongue-lashed D’banj in a recent video, calling him “stupid” to have left Don Jazzy, the Kokomaster has refused to retaliate but rather gave a subtle throwback by saying Eedris insulted people who are young enough to be his children.

The controversial singer had in the said video that surfaced online recently, took some of his younger colleagues to the cleaners while saying D’banj “lacked talent and all he has is ‘razzmatazz’”.

Saturday Beats caught up with the Kokomaster during the one year anniversary of his initiative, CREAM, an acronym that stands for Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music and he bared his mind on Eedris’ outburst.

He told Saturday Beats that he felt Eedris could have handled the matter in a better way. The Kokomaster said, “At first, I did not see the video where Eedris spoke about me and initially, I thought it was something else till people sent me the video.

I have seen different videos of him talking about different artistes that are young enough to be his kids. I would have thought that if he was such a role model, there were better ways he could pass his message across but I have nothing against him. I have nothing more to say about him. I feel people just have different ways of expressing themselves.”

He also used the opportunity to talk about his son and what being a father means to him. “Being a father is very humbling. I have always acted as a father to a lot of young artistes from the days of Mo Hits but now, I have a child of my own. When he was born, I was in the hospital and as I held his hands, it made me realise that to whom much is given, much is expected. This is someone’s life that I am responsible for. It is not just about fatherhood but now I have a family. Before I became a family man, I took decisions without looking back. I could decide to sleep on the Mainland; I could decide to chill with my friends. But now, I have responsibilities. I have people that I am responsible for and we are growing together. The good thing is that I have a great partner and I love it. Each time I look into the eyes of my son, I know that it is real; I have to keep working harder,” he said.

Apparently impressed about the success of his CREAM initiative within a year and how it has changed lives, the singer said, “The CREAM platform was valued by KPMG and that is why we put out their findings. Nine months into the launch of the platform, we employed them and they helped with documentation. We have not done any other auditing since then and I was surprised about their findings because this is a platform that we just launched. It is an idea that God gave us and I worked on it with my wonderful team and for it to be valued at over a hundred million is humbling. I am sure that as I speak with you, the value of the initiative has increased because we have more investors and we are thinking on expanding to other countries. I am sure that in the next few years, we would have advanced. However, that is not the point of the CREAM initiative. It was established to serve as a platform that can encourage talents in Nigeria and I am glad it is achieving its purpose.”
